Meet Joe, Black Diamond’s 2023 Rookie of the Year! The Rookie of the year award is presented to an individual who has no previous staffing experience. Before joining the team as a Technical Recruiter in 2022, Joe was a salesperson at Verizon Wireless following high school graduation. He sold cell phones, cable, home internet bundles, and attended to all customer service needs. He dealt with an average of 100 customers daily. Joe feels as though, “face to face sales was a skill that really helped me start here at BDN.”
Zito admires, Anthony Pisani, a Recruiting Development Lead on the Software/Hardware Engineering division. Pisani is coming up on his 3-year anniversary. Zito says, “He taught me, and is still teaching me everything I know. He is available anytime, night, or day to answer any question I may have.”
Zito is a sports enthusiast and enjoys friendly competition in and out of the office. He looks forward to the annual Black Diamond Turkey Bowl football game in the fall and bowling in the spring.
Looking back on a successful first year, Zito advises new hires to, “Be like a sponge and soak everything in. Trust your manager and trust your team. Exhaust all options and resources because successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not.”
