Black Diamond Networks Provides Hurricane Recovery Support in the Bahamas

Each year, top performers at Black Diamond Networks are rewarded for their hard work with a week-long vacation to the Bahamas. This annual incentive program is referred to as the “Diamond Club” and has become a staple of the company’s culture.

BDN normally associates the Bahamas with some well-deserved relaxation time on the island’s beautiful beaches. But since Hurricane Dorian hit in September, we have only been able to think of the immense damage and loss the island has experienced.  Our team unanimously agreed that we wanted to offer our support in return for the many memories and once in-a-lifetime experiences the island has granted us.

“Black Diamond has a deep affinity for the Bahamian people who have been so gracious to us each year we visit for the Diamond Club incentive trip”

– Mike Sklar, Black Diamond Networks CEO

Austin Griffing, the Director of Business Development in our Florida office, has taken the lead on this initiative by organizing a collection drive of high priority items in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic – Florida. The Bahamian people have reported receiving an awe-inspiring amount of food, water and life sustaining essentials that are being sent daily. However, they are in desperate need for building supplies and other material items such as wood, tarps, hammers, clothing, etc. that will enable them to rebuild their lives.

With assistance from the Cleveland Clinic and Day Maker Charters, Austin is determined to visit the island by boat in an effort to directly deliver the donated items into the hands of the Bahamian people who have the highest need for support.

Inspired by Austin’s dedication to this cause, all four of our BDN offices expressed a desire to make a difference in the lives of those affected and help re-build a place we care so deeply about. A company-wide cash collection resulted in over $3,380 in employee donated funds that will be used to purchase critical supplies. BDN’s corporate executive team has even offered to match the donations up to $1,000.
