Job Description:
Client is seeking a Automation Engineer with a strong background in Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI systems to support robotic cell operations. This role is primarily focused on troubleshooting rather than coding, with a critical need for expertise in 3D vision systems. Experience with Fanuc Robotics is a strong plus. While pharmaceutical experience is preferred, the client is open to candidates from other industries (e.g., logistics, robotics) who have deep controls and automation experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, particularly for robotic cell operations; must be able to respond effectively when systems go down.
- Provide remote and onsite support as needed; hybrid work model depending on workload and troubleshooting needs.
- Support qualification activities, including writing protocols remotely.
- Understand regulated environments and the importance of not making unauthorized changes (e.g., cannot “flip bits” without proper procedures).
- Interface with Wonderware (minimal interaction, nice to have but not essential).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a GMP-compliant environment.
Preferred Technical Experience:
Must-Have:
- Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs
- HMI systems
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities
- 3D vision systems
Strong Plus:
- Fanuc Robotics
- Qualification/validation protocol writing experience
- Understanding of regulated/pharmaceutical environments
Nice to Have:
- Wonderware experience
- Aseptic/robotic cell interface experience
Additional Notes:
- The focus is on candidates with hands-on controls/automation experience rather than just coding.
- Ideal candidates come from environments such as advanced manufacturing, robotics, or logistics (e.g., Amazon Robotics), where they’ve worked on complex control systems.
- Limited on-call expectations; support structure in place to help manage off-hours needs.
