The Black Diamond Story

Similar to many successful business endeavors, Black Diamond Networks features an interesting and rich storyline behind its launch, growth and future vision.

Black Diamond’s two owners were introduced to one another through a mutual friend in 1998. After spending some time together and realizing that they shared the same business philosophy, one which centered around treating each employee, customer and contractor as if they were the only one, they decided to open Black Diamond in February, 1999.  The inception of Black Diamond started as a privately-held, Boston-area IT contract and direct hire staffing company.  The original office was staffed with one account manager, one recruiter and one administrative assistant.

From 1999-2005, Black Diamond steadily grew it’s Boston area professional IT contract and placement business, adding several new staff members each year. In 2005, a national recruiting capability was added to service the national market for contract engineering resources and this business rapidly grew to become the largest segment of the company’s services.

In 2007, at the urging and encouragement of a staff recruiter, Black Diamond began servicing the FDA-regulated industry market supplying Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Validation consultants to Lifesciences and Medical Device companies. FDA regulated industry services has overtaken engineering as the fastest growing segment of Black Diamond’s business.

Black Diamond continued to excel in the national market from 2007-2009 but like many companies it was impacted by the economic recession that occurred at that time. During this time, when business slowed down, Black Diamond began to reevaluate its business philosophy and future plans. In 2009, when many companies began to downsize due to the unstable economy, Black Diamond decided to grow, giving rise to its tagline, “Come Grow with Us.”

The premise of the 2009 business re-evaluation and the decision to grow centered on Black Diamond better defining its business principles, operating units and internal roles. Despite the unsecure economy, Black Diamond’s conscious decision to grow was implemented with the understanding that growth would provide limitless career and business opportunities for internal staff, contractors and clients. The outgrowth of that decision has been a 50% increase in staff, a 30% increase in clientele and a 50% increase in contractor hours, as well as a new western facing office in Phoenix, AZ.

As Black Diamond continues to grow and contribute to the success of its clients, consultants and internal staff, we recognize that it is imperative to our future success that we honor the service first, relationship building ideologies of our founding foundation.
