Meet Sydney!

Here at Black Diamond, we pride ourselves on maintaining that start-up culture. We like to ensure that our employees are working hard and having fun while doing so. Each quarter we choose one employee to be featured on our website to showcase just what it is about Black Diamond that they like so much. You don’t have to take our word for it, take it from them!

This quarter we chose Sydney who just recently hit her 1 year anniversary with Black Diamond Networks, see what she has to say below.

  1. Why did you join BDN?

I joined BDN after a few months out of college. I was commuting from Andover to Quincy at the time and was pretty much open to any new opportunity that would be a good fit. Drew had previously reached out to me on LinkedIn, however I did not respond because I was already set up for my first job. I ended up looking up his contact information and reaching out to see if BDN was still interested in bringing on another Account Executive. After a quick phone call with Drew and Bita I decided to make a move into the staffing industry. The biggest appeal to me was the idea that you control how successful you are at the job. It is an independent work place after training and you have the ability to get as much out of it as you put into it.

  1. What has your experience been like so far?

After the initial learning curve of coming out of college with a degree that has no connection to Life Sciences and Technology skill sets, everything has been going well. It takes a few months after the training period to apply what you have learned to the everyday tasks of the job, however after a while the routine becomes easier. The people at BDN are very approachable as well which makes it easier to put extra effort into your work.

  1. What are your challenges and successes?

The biggest challenge I have faced since being at BDN is really understanding what we do as a company. I think there is a lot more to the job than just staffing processes and that did not set in right away. In terms of success, I think that the opportunity to do well is there, but you have to want it. If you plan on sitting at your desk and coasting by the results won’t be anything to write home about, but if you apply what you’ve learned, even the little things, everything will fall into place.
