Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Technical Writer for a 6-12 month contract. The Technical Writer will support product development documentation needs, including; formal verification and validation, characterization studies, engineering memos, plans, protocols and reports. Experience with the design control process and engineering / documentation change order process is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Performs documentation projects across multiple product lines or specialization areas
- Partners with engineering team on technically complex and high-impact projects and deliverables
- Contributes to the project strategy to meet target goals and milestones
- Owns engineering and document change orders utilizing Windchill
- Creates, edits and revises documentation; ensuring consistency across projects
- Creates, edits and revises verification protocols and reports
- Creates, edits and revises standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Creates, edits and revises assembly and test procedures
- Creates, edits and revises Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Works with R&D and Operations teams to learn about specific processes and products
- Plans and scopes writing tasks to allow accurate setting of timelines
- Creates diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a protocol or procedure
- Gathers feedback from internal customers to improve technical documents
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, English, Technical Writing, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in medical device product development highly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent writing and grammatical skills
- Attention to detail with outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to present complex technical information using clear, concise text and visual images
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently
- Proven capability to edit and proofread work of colleagues and other contributors
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of Windchill highly preferred
